Application Instructions

Application Deadline: November 13, 2009 Students are required to submit an online application by the November 6 deadline.

Students chosen to participate in VASTS will receive an email notification by November 20, 2009.

Once you have submitted the on-line application, you will receive an email confirming the submission.

Transcript

Your high school transcript can be official or unofficial (request this early from the school guidance counselors office)or your freshman and sophomore final grade report as PDF's. Please upload your transcript or report as requested on the application. This must be done by the November 6 deadline.

Suggestion: If you have a copy of a document that is not in an electronic format, you will need to scan and save the document. With some operating systems, you can save that file as (Save As) a .pdf file. If you do not have that capability, there are several free online programs to allow you to convert the file to a .pdf document. Your school guidance office or computer lab should have a scanner that you may use. Another option is to go to your local library or an office supply store, and they usually offer scanning services for a small fee.

Letter of Recommendation

One letter of recommendation is due on or before November 6th and should be provided by a school teacher or administrator. If home schooled, the letter can be from someone who can attest to the applicant's academic qualifications.

Once the student has submitted their application, the system will email the specified individual instructions on how to submit an on-line letter of recommendation on the applicants behalf. Please inform them that they will be receiving an email from applications@spacegrant.org with these instructions. All letters of recommendation must be submitted via the on-line application system. Letters of recommendation submitted in any other manner will not be accepted.

Important Note: It is the responsibility of the student to follow up with the person who is providing a letter of recommendation to ensure the recommendation is submitted electronically by the November 6th deadline. The student will receive an email notification when this letter is submitted.
